Ten Swansea University researchers – a third of this year’s cohort – have been selected for the 2023 Welsh Crucible, the award-winning programme of personal, professional and leadership development for the future research leaders of Wales.
Each year 30 exceptional Welsh-based researchers are chosen to participate in a series of residential workshops – or skills labs – which allow them to benefit from working with researchers in other disciplines.
The workshops also help the participants to explore how their research can have greater impact as well as how to build international research careers in Wales.
Professor Helen Griffiths, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation said: “We are very proud of our research community here at Swansea, and it is wonderful to see such strong representation from Swansea in this year’s Welsh Crucible programme.
“Our researchers’ inclusion reflects our commitment to interdisciplinary, collaborative research, and highlights the breadth and depth of our research expertise.
“Involvement in the Welsh Crucible programme will provide them all with a unique opportunity to progress their talents and enhance their skills so enhancing their research
opportunities – something that can only be of benefit as we address both local and global challenges.”
