Camerados turns 10 years old

The social movement, Camerados, turns 10 years old in the week of the 23rd June 2025. This global movement, started in a bedroom in 2015, is now in 6 countries and 270+ communities.

To most people it takes the form of one of their famous Public Living Rooms – a place in your neighbourhood where you can go for a bit of company with no agenda. They deploy 6 obvious yet oddly confounding principles which keep it equal, mutual and human…and fun see here

From 23 – 27th June Public Living Rooms all over the world will be throwing parties to celebrate.

Also the movement’s founder, Maff Potts, will be embarking on a UK Roadtrip covering over a 1000 miles in 5 days from Edinburgh to London and Cardiff to iconic sites/places in between (see below) to put sofas and armchairs on high streets and meet whoever passes by.

Like his recent book there will no doubt be some incredible stories from the streets.

In 10 years there have been 459 Public Living Rooms, appearing in such locations as parks to pavements, schools to shopping centres, hospitals to libraries with more than 350,000 visits made and countless lives changed as a result. 

“I think if it wasn’t for this, the Public Living Room and the people that make the Public Living Room,  I don’t think I would be here now after what I went through.” 

A survey of the movement reported that the Public Living Room had helped them to –

• 90% feel more connected to others.
• 97% would recommend a Public Living Room to others.
• 67% feel less anxious or stressed.
• 85% feel happier.
• 57% feel more confident.
• 53% feel more able to cope with everyday life.
• 94% would recommend the movement to others.

During the week of the 23rd June a 10th Anniversary tour of pavement pop up Public Living Rooms is happening at the following locations:

Edinburgh by the Castle early afternoon and on the promenade of Portobello Beach in the late afternoon – Monday 23rd June (12pm – 4pm)

Middlesbrough by the Transporter Bridge and in the town centre – Tuesday 24th June (10am – 3pm)

Rotherham Coleridge Primary School  – Wednesday 25th June (9 – 11a.m)

London Butler’s Wharf by Tower Bridge– Wednesday 25th June (3 – 5p.m)

London Grand Junction by St Mary Magdalene, Paddington – Wednesday 25th June (6 – 8pm)

Cardiff Bay  by the Senedd- Thursday 26th June (9.30 – 12am)

Weston – Super- Mare  by The Grand  pier – Thursday 26th June (1 – 4pm)
