CANDY JAR BOOKS CELEBRATES WORLD BOOK DAY WITH EXCITING AUTHOR EVENTS, SPECIAL OFFERS, AND YEAR-ROUND SCHOOL VISITS!

 Cardiff-based independent publisher Candy Jar Booksis celebratingWorld Book Day 2025 with a variety of exciting events, promotions, and author appearances across the UK. This year also marks the publisher’s 15th anniversary, a significant milestone for the indie press known for its high-quality, diverse, and creative range of titles. 

For World Book Day 2025, Candy Jar Books is proud to showcase a selection of its talented authors who are out and about making World Book Day an exciting celebration of reading and creativity.

Maesteg-based author Paul Wines is joining in with the festivities with a bilingual reading at Whitchurch Library in Cardiff on Saturday 8th March at 11:00 am. Paul will read extracts from both his Welsh and English titles, including his upcoming release Y Diwrnod Wnes i Gwrdd â Fampir! (The Day I Met A Vampire), which is due out on 24th April 2025, as well as Gwallt Gwyllt: Cysgod y Cadno (Candy Jar’s very first Welsh-language book, Wild Hair: The Shadow of the Fox). This 45-minute reading promises to be a special event for audiences of all ages, with Paul selling copies of his books following the reading. Paul shares: “I’m excited to share my stories with the community in both Welsh and English and to celebrate the joy of reading with children and families on World Book Day.” Whitchurch Library has a few author events over the weekend, organised by Arts Whitchurch Eglwys Newydd (AWEN), to celebrate reading in Cardiff.

 Paul W. Robinson, author of Six Kids Save Planet Earth, I Was A Teenage Spy, Timesplit, the Charlie series, and his upcoming titles releasing on the 27^th MarchTwo Kids Trapped in History and Ingrid Saves The School, is heading into a school in Kent to engage with young students on World Book Day. He’ll be giving an assembly,conducting creative writing workshops, reading from his books, and signing copies for parents. Paul shares: “I’m excited to work with the children, help them unlock their creative potential, and share my stories with them in an interactive way. I’m really looking forward to it!”

Tash Bell, author of the highly praised The Swish, a vibrant young adult novel about creativity, sustainability, and individuality, has just received a new endorsement in time for World Book Day, from TV presenter and writer Janet Ellis (and Mum to Sophie Ellis-Bextor), who says: “Making and making do has never been so engagingly presented. I loved Kat’s spirit, I cheered her (and her family and friends) on and I loved learning from her along the way. Kat has really got being a talented teen sewn up!”  The Swish has also teamed up with Girlguiding South West England to launch a creative upcycling challengefor young members, with a special badge awarded to those who complete the challenge by 18th March.  Meanwhile, Baz Greenland, author of The Mystery of Lucy Wilson: Rampage of the Drop Bears and Nobody’s House, is visiting Albany Primary school in Cardiff, followed by a book signing at Albany Road Post Office for local readers. Baz’s interactive visit is sure to inspire young readers with his thrilling tales.

Eryl Jones, author of the gripping World War II thriller Operation Auger, will also be making a special radio appearance on Swansea City Radio Online (https://www.radiocity1386am.co.uk/) on World Book Day, between 7:00 pm and 8:00 pm. Eryl will discuss his latest release with host Wyn Thomas, offering insight into his writing process and the historical context behind his exciting new novel.
