Family daredevils Mia Gardner and her aunt, Kelly Evans-Sims from Pontypridd will take on a daring skydive to raise money for a key Action for Children short breaks service in RCT.  On October 1st they will take the plunge at Swansea Airport for a thrill of a lifetime.

Mia (15), was keen to raise money for a sensory bedroom and bed at Rhondda Short Breaks as her mum, Natalie has worked there for 23 years.

She said: ‘My mum works with children who have disabilities, and she does amazing work there.  I was keen to do something that helped raise money for this brilliant service, even if that meant throwing myself out of a plane!  I’m nervous and excited about the big day and I hope as many people as possible donate and help develop the sensory bedroom at Rhondda Short Breaks that will help more children attend the service and improve the stays for those who already do.’

Rhondda Short Breaks is a service for children aged 5 – 18 years who have disabilities. We provide regular respite stays for the children to enable them to gain new experiences, socialise and to give the parent/carers and families a break from their caring role.

Mum Natalie added: ‘I’m exceptionally proud of Mia and Kelly.  It’s an amazing thing they’re doing for a brilliant cause.  The family know I’m very passionate about the service where I’ve worked for so long.  The children are incredible, and every day is a privilege watching them grow and develop.  Any money raised will only improve the service by providing a new sensory bedroom.  I’m so grateful and wish them all the best for October 1st!’
