Maesteg woman jailed following NPT investigation

 A woman from Maesteg has been jailed for multiple thefts following an investigation by the local neighbourhood policing team.

Samantha Jones, 41 from Maesteg was sentenced on Monday March 30,2026 at Cardiff Magistrates Court to 12 weeks in prison. This sentence follows guilty pleas to six counts of theft.

Between February and March 2026 Jones was involved in six thefts from two stores across the Maesteg area; in total she stole over £380.

These included four thefts from Asda in Maesteg which involved stealing meat and spirits totalling £300 and two thefts from Flico Stroes in Maesteg where Jones stole coffee and meat with a value of around £80.

Jones has also been made subject of a CBO (Criminal Behaviour Order) lasting for two years, the conditions of this order are that she is not to go into any of the following shops / areas. Any retail premises on Talbot Street and Commercial Street, Maesteg. Asda Stores, Castle Street, Maesteg, B&M Bargains, 27 Llynfi Road, Maesteg and Filco Stores, Hermon Road, Caerau.

Maesteg Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant Danieele Burton said,“This was a thorough and in-depth investigation run by our neighbourhood policing teams, businesses in our community deserve to be able to trade without worrying about theft”

“Not only will Jones now serve a short sentence, but she will also be under conditions from the CBO when she is released from jail”
