Shoplifter Victoria Taylor, 30, regularly targets shops in Barry and Penarth.

Following a recent conviction for three thefts, Taylor, from Barry, was issued with a two-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).

The court heard the CBO was necessary to protect the community, local workers, and members of the public from continued distress, disruption and harm.

Shopworkers have described Taylor as being aggressive and threatening when challenged. Her actions also cause considerable financial losses.

PC Adrian Muscat, Anti-Social Behaviour Co-ordinator at South Wales Police, said:“South Wales Police work closely with retailers and businesses to protect them from crime and anti-social behaviour committed by individuals like Victoria Taylor.

“Taylor’s behaviour has caused persistent and continuous harassment and distress to the communities of Barry and Penarth.”

As part of the CBO, imposed at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on February 26, Taylor is banned from:

  • Co-op, Colcot Road
  • Home Bargains, Palmerston Road
  • Asda, Waterfront Retail Park
  • Any Tesco store in Barry and Penarth
  • Any One Stop Shop in Barry

Taylor must also not display any disorderly, threatening or abusive behaviour within any retail shops in Barry and Penarth. She must also leave when instructed to do so.

Breaching the order is a criminal offence punishable by prison, and or a fine.

This is the latest success following a new wider approach to shoplifting and anti-social behaviour by police in Cardiff and The Vale.

Breaches and incidents should be reported to police.
