Sport Caerphilly has been awarded accreditation as an Autism Understanding and Accepting Organisation by Neurodivergent Wales, underscoring its commitment to inclusive and empathetic delivery of sport and physical activity to autistic people and their families. Development officers and coaches have completed specialist eLearning in Understanding Autism and Effective Communication, ensuring the team is well equipped to support neurodiverse participants with genuine understanding and respect.

This accreditation supports the aims of the Sport and Active Recreation Strategy 2019-2029, which sets out a long-term vision for making sport across Caerphilly accessible, inclusive and rooted in community needs.

To build on this achievement, Sport Caerphilly staff and coaches will also take part in immersive autism training through the Autism Reality Experience Simulator. This hands on simulation will deepen empathy and understanding of the sensory challenges faced by autistic individuals and further strengthen inclusive practices across programmes.

By embedding these principles throughout its work, Sport Caerphilly continues to lead the way in making community sport welcoming and accessible, supporting their vision of more people, more active, more often.
