Camp in the Backyard
For people who love the great outdoors, traveling to a remote campsite isn’t always a necessity. Instead, you can spend the weekend setting up a tent in the backyard and sleeping under the stars that way. You can still make s’mores and tell ghost stories and do everything else that’s great about camping. Camping in the backyard also has the advantage of being close to home, just in case there’s something you need inside.
Take a Hike
Long trips and vacations aren’t the only way to go on a great hike or get some fresh air. Instead, take a staycation to the nearest state or national park. There is a good chance that you haven’t enjoyed the recreational areas close to home nearly enough. That can easily be rectified by going on a weekend hiking trip somewhere that’s close to home so it feels like a vacation without having to travel far.
Visit a Local Museum
If you’re more of an indoor person than an outdoors person, the perfect staycation could be at a local museum. It’s amazing how people rarely go to the museums and tourist attractions that are close to them. Therefore, any place of cultural or historical significance that’s close by is the perfect attraction for a staycation. Just think about where people from out of town are most likely to go if they were visiting your home city. Those are the perfect places to visit during your next staycation.
Play Online Casino Games
In today’s world, you don’t have to travel to the nearest casino for a game of poker or slot machines. Any casino game you want to play you can play from anywhere in the palm of your hand. Similar to visiting parks or museums that are close but you don’t visit enough, you can do the same thing with local restaurants and bars. Just think like someone who’s coming from out of town. What are the bars and restaurants you would recommend to that person? Those are the places you should plan to visit during your staycation. Pick a few places and plan a day of going from one restaurant to the next getting small plates or a drink at each stop. While it may not be exclusively places you’ve never been before, a self-planned local food tour will still give you a culinary tour of the best places your home city has to offer.
Pamper Yourself
Any vacation should include at least a little bit of rest and relaxation. But you don’t have to travel to a five-star hotel to make that happen. Just find a spa or salon close by that offers massages, pedicures, manicures, and other services to make a person feel relaxed and pampered. If you’re truly in need of a staycation, any type of spa treatment will make you feel like you’re at a five-star resort.
