The areas in Wales most exposed to rising housing costs have been revealed.
As housing costs have continued to increase since 2022 amid rising inflation and higher interest rates, Mobile Annexe LTD. analysed new ONS data to find the places most affected across the country.
Each area was assigned an exposure score, relative to other local authorities, based on “the estimated proportion of households affected by rising costs” and “the increase in costs as a proportion of estimated disposable income for the average household.”
Cardiff had the highest private rent exposure score at 6, followed by Ceredigion, Conwy, Denbighshire, Monmouthshire, Newport, Torfaen, and the Vale of Glamorgan with 3.
Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Flintshire, Gwynedd, Isle of Anglesey, Merthyr Tydfil, Pembrokeshire, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Swansea, and Wrexham came third with 2.
Carmarthenshire, Neath Port Talbot, and Powys had the lowest at 1.
