Neath Port Talbot Council has officially opened its latest refurbished playground at Cimla Common, following a heartfelt request from pupils at Crynallt Primary School. The playground marks a significant enhancement in play facilities for families and children in the local area.
Responding to the pupils’ plea for improvements to its local playground, council officers engaged with pupils at the school, even involving them in the design process alongside the contractor. The result is a playground that is not only double in size, but now offers numerous pieces of equipment suitable for toddlers, young children, and those with disabilities.
With a total investment of £132,991, some of the key highlights of the playground refurbishment include:
· The ‘Mission Target’ multi-play unit, featuring a twister, three platforms, trapeze, and bannister slide, providing engaging activities for children of all abilities.
· A Low Rotator, 2.4m Embankment Slide, Half Ball rubber sculptures, and 3D snake
· Inclusive equipment such as an inclusive flush-fitting roundabout and a ground trampoline for rebound therapy, catering to children with disabilities.
· Addition of a basket nest swing, designed to support those with lower lumbar support issues.
· Impact Absorbing Safety Surfacing with an overlay of rubber crumb, ensuring a safe and clean play environment for all children
· Contrasting colours in the safety surfacing, aiding visually impaired individuals in identifying changes in levels.
