Swansea Council is promoting free courses to help more people get online during National Adult Safeguarding Week.

A key theme of this year’s event that runs between November 16 and 20 is ‘Staying Connected’.

The Council’s Lifelong Learning Team runs free regular courses to support beginners to get online and reduce loneliness and isolation.

Cabinet Member for Supporting Communities, Alyson Pugh, said: “Starting off on the web can be daunting but we are trying to help as many people get online as possible.

“People who are digitally excluded are missing out on so much, because knowing how to use technology of this kind opens up a world of new opportunities including contacting family and friends and having access to services such as online shopping which many have found a lifeline during the coronavirus crisis.

“There are dangers online including scams but our lifelong learning team are running free courses that show people how to safely make the most of the web and how to avoid the pitfalls.

“I’d encourage anyone who thinks they’d benefit from these courses, or people who know of others who’d benefit, to get in touch.”

Over the phone support is available weekdays; telephone between 9am and 4.30pm on 01792 637101 and the council will arrange for one of the tutors to call you back.

Accredited digital literacy courses for work are also available.
