This April, Ifor ap Glyn has been on a poetry tour of Wales with a twist. Starting his journey in Monmouth, Ifor has walked from gig to gig to raise money in support of the charity, the Welsh Refugee Council.
Ifor is walking 12 miles a day on average and will end his tour in Tyddewi, St Davids, on Saturday 3 May. It will mark the end of his epic 160-mile journey which has taken him almost 3 weeks since setting out on 14 April 2025.
Ifor said, “Many of those helped by the Welsh Refugee Council will have walked far greater distances on their way to Wales.”

The Welsh Refugee Council has delivered urgent support for sanctuary seekers and refugees in Wales for over 35 years. We help people re-build their lives in Wales, after it is no longer safe for them to remain in their country of origin. Our dedicated team delivers trauma-informed play sessions for children to create a space for families to integrate into new communities and learn together through play.
The money raised from Ifor’s fundraiser will give some of the most vulnerable in our communities the opportunity to live a full and happy life.
