After rehoming over 1000 dogs in 2024, Dogs Trust is kicking off the year by encouraging people across Wales to visit its Cardiff and Bridgend rehoming centres, to see how the charity can help you find a four-legged friend, and to learn more about how Dogs Trust supports dog owners and the wider community.
After ending 2024 with the New Year rehoming of long-term resident, and four-legged-favourite, Smiley the Lurcher, who spent an incredible 1389 days with the charity, Dogs Trust Cardiff and Dogs Trust Bridgend are hoping to keep the good times rolling by finding forever homes the dogs in its care.
While details of all the rehoming centre dogs can be found online, the charity is encouraging potential adopters to visit the centre to see the dogs and meet the team caring for them, with the aim of matching adopters with the right dog for them. Both Dogs Trust Cardiff and Dogs Trust Bridgend are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 12–4 pm.

Darren Oakley, Manager of Dogs Trust Bridgend said: “Last year we saw so many of our lovely dogs find their forever homes, but our work here isn’t done!
“We’d love to welcome as many people as possible along to our rehoming centres to see the dogs who are looking for homes, talk to us about foster caring, ways you can support us, and learn about how we support dog owners and the community.
“So please come along and visit! We’d love to show you around, answer your questions and of course, speak to you about our dogs.”
As well as long-term dogs, Dogs Trust also rehomes younger dogs and even puppies. Dogs Trust Cardiff is currently home to nine, five-week-old Vizsla crossbreed puppies, all named after characters from Winnie the Pooh. Eeyore, Tigger, Pooh and Piglet are just a few of the gorgeous puppies who make up the over 180 Dogs Trust dogs, young and old, in Wales who are looking for a chance at a forever home.
