The mare was removed from Gelligaer and Merthyr Common
RSPCA Cymru has launched an appeal for information to try and find the owner of a pony removed from Gelligaer and Merthyr Common due to concerns for her welfare.
A small operation which included the RSPCA, Caerphilly County Borough Council, Redwings and World Horse Welfare saw the chestnut mare removed from the common on welfare grounds on Wednesday 8 January.
RSPCA Inspector Christine McNeil said: “This pony was taken into possession by Caerphilly County Borough Council under the Animal Welfare Act and was taken into charitable care where she is now receiving the appropriate veterinary treatment.”
The RSPCA is now making enquiries to track down the owners of this pony and is appealing for information.
Christine added: “We don’t know who this mare belongs to so we’re issuing an appeal to help with enquiries.
“Anyone with any first hand information can contact the RSPCA Inspectorate Appeal Line on 0300 123 8018 and quote 1391242.”
The RSPCA recently launched its Join The Winter Rescue campaign and is calling on the public to support the initiative to ensure rescuers can continue their life-saving work during the busy winter period.
