Absolutely no sense

Where is the scientific, technical, engineering, electrical generation, and indeed plain common sense for the proposed wind farm at Y Bryn, near Port Talbot! Fundamentally, you do not have to be the sharpest pencil in the box to acknowledge the variability and unpredictability of the wind. Our modern technical society is heavily dependent on a secure and reliable source of electrical energy and wind generation cannot offer this. The only certainty that large scale wind generation can guarantee are power brownouts and blackouts – the writing is clearly on the wall when only recently, due to the failure of the wind, a coal-fired power station had to be brought on-line. Surely, the Senedd has members with sufficient cerebral skills to recognise the ‘Achilles Heel’ of wind generation, not to mention the desecration of our beautiful Welsh countryside etc. A small boy might ask why we need all these wind and solar farms when we are already self sufficient in power generation – any new or proposed wind or solar farms in Wales should be halted immediately. If there is a UK requirement for more generation from Wales then there are other viable ‘green’ alternatives, but that is another letter.
