- Volunteers’ Week returns this year for the 42nd year. From Monday 1 to Sunday 7 June 2026, Welsh Water will join thousands of charities and organisations recognising the contribution volunteers make across the UK.
- The events taking place in Swansea during Volunteers’ Week will see Welsh Water staff support Faith in Families, a Swansea-based charity dedicated to helping children and families facing hardship. Volunteers will help the Cwtch Mawr multibank to pack and prepare essential supplies for local communities in need.
- 685 volunteering hours spent supporting 24 community groups and charities since 2025.
Over the last 12 months colleagues from Welsh Water were delighted to dedicate over 685 hours of volunteering to support 24 groups and organisations in local communities. During volunteering week colleagues will be rolling up their sleeves to host and support events in their local community.
At Welsh Water, staff are encouraged to dedicate one working day a year to undertake volunteering activities in their communities. With offices, depots, and operational sites across Wales and parts of England, the not-for-profit company is committed to making a positive difference to local communities, enhancing our environment, and ensuring that the wellbeing of its staff is of the utmost importance.
This initiative also allows staff to work with charities and organisations to encourage them to learn new skills and meet new people. The volunteering activities range from litter picking, supporting at animal rescue centres, working with children with disabilities, tree planting, and enhancing outdoor spaces.

Faith in Families volunteer manager, Chris Strong said:
“We are delighted that Welsh Water has chosen to support us this Volunteers’ Week, helping us continue our mission to provide vital essentials and support to children and families facing hardship across Swansea. A heartfelt thank you to all the volunteers giving their time at Cwtch Mawr, whose efforts in packing and preparing supplies will make a real and lasting difference to the families we serve.”
Danielle Thomas, Senior Community & Campaigns Manager for Welsh Water said:
“We’re proud to be supporting so many incredible causes during Volunteering Week, and over the last 12 months. As a not-for-profit organisation, customers are at the heart of everything we do. We already play a key role in our communities by providing the most essential of services – clean drinking water and treating wastewater before returning it back to the environment and we’re delighted to support local charities and organisations in this way.
We’ve also partnered with Keep Wales Tidy to set up official Keep Wales Tidy hubs and litter free zones at our offices in Kinmel Park. This location serves as central storage point for litter picking equipment, readily available for community groups and enthusiastic volunteers to embark on litter picks across North Wales and in their local community.
This inspiring initiative not only enhances our local environment but also presents a tremendous opportunity for colleagues to come together and prioritise their well-being.”
