Andrew Davies, 38, from Merthyr has been sentenced to five years and 219 days in prison following his conviction.
The sentencing took place on Tuesday February 24, 2026, at Cardiff Crown Court where Davies pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of heroin and acquire/use criminal property.
The case stems from a South Wales Police investigation which started when officers were carrying out a patrol in Merthyr Tydfil town centre in December 2025.
Officers were travelling on High Street, when they identified Davies actively using a ‘burner’ style mobile phone and waiting on the corner of High Street. He has also been subject of a previous drugs supply investigation whereby, he was identified as suspect of being concerned in the supply of a Class A controlled drug.
Davies was arrested and searched, where he was found to be in possession of over £5,000 in cash and the Nokia phone. When the phone data was downloaded it showed Davies sending multiple messages offering heroin for sale.
Sergeant Andrew Carver said“This case highlights our commitment to tackling drug-related crime and ensuring that those who seek to profit from illegal activities face the consequences of their actions. We will continue to work tirelessly to make our communities safer”
Davies was a known drug dealer so to have him off the streets shows our commitment to ending the blight of drugs on our communities”
