he motoring experts at Moneybarn Car Finance surveyed over 2,000 people to identify the UK areas with the most severe potholes and uncover the cities where people wait the longest for them to be fixed, as well as the cities that see their potholes resolved in a week.

Cardiff has the 8th worst potholes in the UK, as reported by 1 in 9 locals who say they never get repaired.
Newcastle ranks as the UK’s worst city for potholes, with 1 in 6 residents frustrated that their local potholes are never resolved. More than 2 in 25 locals rated their local potholes as “extremely severe”.
Birmingham is the UK’s second-worst city for potholes, with 7 in 50 residents saying their local potholes never get resolved.
Further findings:
- Potholes in London are fixed the quickest, according to 1 in 10 residents who said that potholes in their local area are resolved within a week.
- Sheffield has the worst potholes in the UK, with over 1 in 5 residents having rated their local potholes as extremely severe.
- Cities in the northern regions said their local potholes are resolved “very slowly or not at all”, rating the severity of potholes as a 10. Meanwhile, potholes in cities in the south of the UK are resolved more promptly.
