And the council remains a key supporter of the effort, with a number of foodbanks based in our community centres and a council web page full of key information.

Donations are welcome and details on how to donate are listed on our web page – www.swansea.gov.uk/foodbanks.

Alyson Pugh, joint cabinet member for supporting communities, said: “Swansea’s foodbanks are working hard for the people of our local communities.

“I thank all those involved including the organisers, volunteers, donors and supporters. Like thousands of council staff, they’re all here for Swansea.”

A network of community foodbanks across Swansea is helping to support anyone facing a food crisis.

They include foodbanks based at the council’s Birchgrove Community Centre, Clase Community Centre, Mayhill Community Centre, South Penlan Community Centre and Sketty Park Community Centre.

Others are based in a wide range of communities including Blaenymaes, Clydach, Gorseinon, Morriston, north Gower, Pontarddulais, St Helen’s Road and Uplands.

Last year, the council ran food distribution centres and helped with emergency food parcels for thousands of the most vulnerable in our communities.
