A man from Neath Port Talbot has been jailed after pleading guilty to multiple offences including burglary.
37-year-old Marcus Thomas, from Sandfields, entered a home on Arthur Street, Port Talbot as a trespasser in the early hours of June 1 before stealing car keys therein. The stolen vehicle was then reversed into a van, causing damage to both vehicles.
On the same day, Thomas tried the door handle of another address on the same street in an effort to gain access, but found it locked.
In July, Thomas pleaded guilty to burglary, attempted burglary, aggravated vehicle-taking and vehicle damage of £5,000 or over and driving whilst disqualified and without third-party insurance.
Thomas has been sentenced to a total of four years in prison and is disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for five years.
Detective Constable Joseph Wilcox said:
“Marcus Thomas’s behaviour is the sort which makes people feel unsafe in their own homes.
“He knew what he was doing was wrong, yet decided to do it anyway. There is no place for behaviour like that on the streets of Neath Port Talbot, and it is absolutely right that people like Marcus get a good spell in prison.”
