Three men have been jailed for a robbery in Merthyr Tydfil, following a South Wales Police investigation.
Jason Colin, 49 from Merthyr Tydfil was sentenced to three years in prison following his conviction.
Jonathan Pike, 46 from Merthyr Tydfil was sentenced to three years in prison following his conviction.
Matthew Winstone 37, from Merthyr Tydfil was sentenced to three years in prison following his conviction.
The sentencing took place at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court on Tuesday March 10 where all three pleaded guilty to robbery.
Officers were made aware of three men acting suspiciously near to Hong Kong Lane and the Merthyr law courts around 7:30pm on Sunday February 1.
Colin, Pike and Winstone could be seen on CCTV approaching the victim and talking to him for 10 minutes before, Pike started to assault the victim by repeatedly punching and kneeing him in the head. Whilst this was happening Colin was going through the victim’s jacket pockets and Winstone walks off with a large suitcase which the victim had with him.
PC Rhys Maiden said“Violent crime will not be tolerated anywhere in our communities, and Colin, Pike and Winstone will now face justice for their actions.
“Attacks like the one these three carried out will have a lasting effect on the victim. I hope that they will all use their time in custody to reflect upon their actions and become more productive members of the community when they are eventually released.”
