CETMA Stays a National Databank Partner Organisation

As CETMA moves into 2026, the organisation is pleased to continue its partnership with the Good Things Foundation through the National Databank. 

The National Databank provides free SIM cards to people who need internet access, helping to address the digital divide. Internet access is increasingly necessary, yet many people still do not have it. In 2023, research showed that 2 million households lacked home internet, and 2.4 million people were unable to afford a mobile phone contract. 

Created in July 2021, the Databank was designed to reduce data poverty and also to help address isolation during the Covid‑19 pandemic. It remains active, with numerous centres across the UK offering SIM cards to those who need them. Depending on stock, O2, Vodafone and Three SIM cards are available, providing up to a year of free data and varying allowances of calls and texts. 

Anyone who would like a free SIM card can visit CETMA’s offices in Llanelli, Kidwelly or Swansea. After answering a few registration questions, they can leave with a SIM card. The process is quick and usually takes no more than five minutes. 

CETMA has been involved with the National Databank since the initial pilot and was the only Welsh organisation included in that phase. Over the years, CETMA has distributed hundreds of SIM cards, supporting the Databank’s mission to reduce data poverty and ensure people can access essential online services such as job searching and online shopping.
