Thursday 8th May was the 80th anniversary of VE Day and the end of the Second World War in Europe. To mark the occasion a short service of reflection was led by Chief Constable Jeremy Vaughan at our force Headquarters in Bridgend.
The service included a reading from the Chief Constable and an observation of two minutes silence in honour of those who served and sacrificed during the war.

HQ facilities were decorated in homage to the street parties held in 1945 and in the evening our force Headquarters was lit in red, white and blue in tribute to those who fought and died for our country.
Our force’s Heritage Centre has offered war-themed visits and published a Second World War Roll of Honour containing the names of police officers of south Wales who died as a result of the conflict.
As an organisation, we remain committed remembering the services and sacrifices made by those who died during the Second World War. They will never be forgotten.
