Hundreds of people from near and far came to show respect to local Swansea Boxing legend, big Sunny Gilheany, who sadly passed away
Around about 600 people attended the funeral in a show of respect, he was carried in American gold casket.
Businesses in both Swansea and Morristown were closed as a mark of respect to a local legend
10 Rolls Royces carried the courtage

He started boxing for Wales at a very young age and he was unstoppable. He was really respected that everyone that knew him he was a loving father of five children, three sons and two daughters, he was raised in Morriston, as very well respected among settle community and among the travelers, he brought A lot of friendship between both communities RIP. Legend, Big, Sunny Gilheany.
HE was raised Here in Morriston he made his first holy communion and confirmation here in the Sacred Heart he loved he’s home town so much
Sonny Was a loving husband to Nan of 31 years together he adored her and she adored him he was her rock as he would alway be worried about Nan she was he’s life & soul
He was a devoted loving father of Violet , Sonny , jimmy britney & Micheal he loved he’s children they was hes heart as he’d alway say
He was a son of Jimmy & Violet he’s now with his Mommy & Daddy and he was the baby of the family youngest of 18 children they all loved him dearly
So sad he never got to meet to he’s grandchildren but thankful that he knew he was gonna be a grandad to a little boy whom is hes namesake called after him he was so happy & proud that day when he found out
Sonny was a man that just loved life love to dance & sing alway love to make people laugh & smile as he would always be smiling when you’d see him
Sonny loved he’s food he loved making food for Nan & making a mess in the kitchen for the girls to cleanup after but he could cook a great steak
Some people seen him as a tough guy but when you really got to know him he was a friendly giant with a big heart of gold would help anyone out a big softy really with a big personality a big prankster love alway to do anything for fun
Sonny loved the gym he would always be training he loved fitness all he’s. Life Sonny started boxing for Wales very young age He was a unstoppable champion he started boxing at Swansea docs he’s first amateur fight at 15-years old and never lost he then went on to box for Bonymaen boxing club for years Then the older he got he was known for bear knuckle boxing he’s was next level never lost a fight to then to now. he was know throughout the world for what a boxer he was an how skilled he was.
Sonny was well known throughout the world he had friends in all communities
Everybody loved him he was a proper man to backbone & a true blue
He was very well
Respected Man
And brought a lot of friendship between traveller and the settle community he was a true champion and will never be forgotten
