Newport, Wales — Welsh Cycling is thrilled to announce the launch of the Festiva Series, a groundbreaking cycling initiative set to roll out across Wales. Designed to inspire cyclists of all ages and abilities, the Festiva Series promises fun bike festivals that will be a celebration of cycling, community, and the breathtaking Welsh landscapes.
With 35 events announced across Wales in 2024 and further events to come that aim to give 5,000 opportunities to young and old, there will be an opportunity for everyone to ride. Themed events include women & girls focussed activities, the Paris Olympic Games and a ‘Pump & Jam’ series across Mid-Wales.
Promising thrilling activities including jumps, tricks, balance challenges, racing, games and more, children and adults alike will be able to experience everything cycling has to offer.
Robbie George, Director of Development & Participation at Welsh Cycling, expressed his excitement about the series, stating, “The Festiva Series is more than just a set of events; it’s a movement towards making cycling an integral part of Welsh culture. We believe that by creating accessible, enjoyable, and diverse cycling experiences, we can inspire more people to embrace cycling, whether as a means of transportation, a way to improve health, or simply for the joy of it. Our goal is to see more Welsh people cycling more often, enjoying the myriad benefits it brings to individuals and communities alike.”
The series aims to remove barriers to cycling participation by working with local clubs to deliver local riding opportunities, making the events affordable through supporting event organisers with costs, and offering hire bikes at events where possible.
In addition to promoting cycling, the Festiva Series is committed to sustainability. Events will feature eco-friendly practices, including trail clean ups, waste reduction measures, encouragement of public transportation, and the use of digital platforms for registrations and updates, aligning with Welsh Cycling’s dedication to environmental stewardship.
